Wasted $120 on a fancy face oil that broke me out in cysts
I bought this expensive rosehip oil from a boutique brand after seeing it all over Instagram. Used it for three nights and my cheeks looked like I was back in high school with those deep painful cysts. Turns out my skin just hates anything with added fragrance, even if it's "natural." Now I stick to plain squalane oil from the drugstore that costs $12 and works way better. Has anyone else had a similar reaction to a hyped up product that everyone else loved?

Turns out my skin just hates anything with added fragrance" - that line hit so hard. I had the exact same experience with a Glow Recipe serum last year, everyone was raving about it but my face turned into a red bumpy mess. It's wild how brands slap "natural" on something and people act like it can't possibly irritate you. The whole clean beauty thing has gone way too far with essential oils and plant extracts that are actually super harsh. I swear fragrance is in like 90% of skincare products for no reason, it just makes things smell nice but does nothing good for your skin. Plain squalane is actually genius, that and plain glycerin are the only things my face can handle without freaking out.

Cerave's cream in the tub was a game changer for me when I finally gave up on all those fancy scented products. Just basic ingredients and my skin actually calmed down after months of looking like a tomato.
