Unpopular opinion: The new 'wearable tech' jackets at the Portland expo feel like a step back
I was at the design expo in Portland last week and saw a whole section dedicated to jackets with built-in LED panels and phone chargers. Everyone was crowded around them, but honestly... they looked bulky and the fabric felt stiff, like cheap raincoat material. The focus seemed to be on the gadget, not on making a good-looking, comfortable piece of clothing first. Has anyone actually made techwear that doesn't sacrifice the basic feel of a garment?

Wait, they used that cheap raincoat plastic? That stuff feels awful and crinkles like a chip bag. Hannah_knight9 is right, what's the point if the jacket is bad. I'd rather just carry a power bank in a normal pocket.

Exactly! It's putting the cart before the horse. The tech should be hidden in a jacket you'd actually want to wear, not the main event. Otherwise it's just a gadget with sleeves.
