Showerthought: I started using a cheap paint roller to spread adhesive and it's a total game changer for large vinyl plank jobs

Oh man, that's brilliant! I used a putty knife for my whole kitchen floor and my wrist was killing me for days. That roller idea would have saved me so much trouble.

My uncle does tile work and he swears by those paint rollers with the thick nap. He said it spreads the adhesive way more even than a trowel. He did his whole bathroom floor in half the time. Makes sense why your wrist hurt after using a putty knife.

Fiona, I hear you, but I've got to disagree with that paint roller idea. I've been doing tile work for a long time, and that thick nap roller is a gamble. It pushes the adhesive into the joints and leaves thin spots. You'll end up with hollow tiles that crack later.
@the_riley I know your wrist hurt, but you don't get good coverage from a roller. It's not like paint where you want a smooth coat. With a notched trowel you can actually see the ridges and control how much adhesive you're putting down. A roller just gives you a false sense of speed.
