Weighing sand by weight instead of volume made a huge difference

I used to just scoop sand for molds. It was fast but not always right. Now I use a scale to get the exact amount. My molds are stronger and we have less waste. This small habit has made my work much easier.

Your point about less waste is key. I saw a thing online where a guy found weighing sand cut his material costs by like 20%. Basically, you're not just being precise, you're being smart.

Used to think weighing materials was just extra fuss for no real gain. Seeing those plaster molds come out brittle changed my mind fast. Started weighing my mix like you did, and suddenly the pieces held together properly. It turns out my "scoop" was basically a random amount every single time. That kind of sloppy guesswork costs more than just materials.

That "sloppy guesswork" line reminds me of my old baking fails.
