Hot take: I used to mock gradient backgrounds until one accidentally became my favorite design element.

Right? I was the same for so long, always thought gradients looked cheap or outdated. Then I messed around with a soft blue to purple gradient for a website header, just as a placeholder. But it somehow made the text pop and gave the whole page a calm, modern feel without trying too hard. I ended up keeping it, and now I use subtle gradients all the time, but only when they serve a purpose. Like, a gentle fade can really help separate sections without using harsh lines. It taught me not to write off design trends just because they get overused or mocked.

Actually gradients still look cheap when they’re too bold or overdone.
