Why drop $300 on a Strymon when a DIY pedal kit does the job for $45?

Y'all swear by boutique delays, but my homemade BYOC kit cost $45 and nails the same tones. Put the savings into treating your room, trust me.

Hey, I've been through this! My BYOC kit was great for basics, but shimmer introduced so much noise. Ended up investing in a Strymon for clean algorithms, totally worth it.

Strymon's Timeline has that custom DSP for a reason. Can your BYOC kit replicate the shimmer algorithm without introducing noise?

It's cool gear for sure, but most audiences wouldn't notice a little noise in a live mix. Chasing that last 5% of pristine sound sometimes feels more like an engineer's hobby than a musician's need. Those algorithms are amazing, but the noise argument gets overblown for bedroom producers. In a band context, that subtle artifact is totally buried anyway.
