For "with care it's okay," I started with supervised cuts and strict safety drills. My kid earned solo time by proving he took it seriously.

How detailed were your safety drills? With my daughter, we spent weeks on just carrying tools safely... no power until she could pass a quiz on the parts. Then she practiced on scrap wood, always with me watching. Once she stopped rushing, I let her try a simple crosscut. Now she's the one reminding me to wear goggles.
