inThat cheap traffic ticket lawyer cost me $150 and got me nothing
Waited too long myself before learning this lesson with a speeding ticket in St. Albert. Spent $200 on a guy who promised the world but just filed a one page form and never showed up to court. What finally worked for me was hiring a paralegal who actually specializes in traffic law, not a general cheap lawyer. The one I used charged around $400 but got the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation with no demerits. Paid for itself in insurance savings within a year. Look for someone with actual courtroom experience and good reviews from real clients, not just cheap ads. The extra money upfront is worth it when you factor in the long term costs of a conviction.

inWatched my friend's grocery bill drop from $900 to $580 in three months after she started using a meal plan app
That "scanning your pantry" thing sounds way too convenient, I swear I've got three half-used bags of rice and two different kinds of soy sauce in my cupboard right now because I keep forgetting what I already have. Last week I bought a jar of cumin that I already owned, just buried behind a box of pasta.

inFound a trick for stubborn refrigerator ice maker jams
Gotta love when a cheap Harbor Freight tool saves you from dropping another $100+ on a board that wasn't even broken in the first place. Whirlpool probably knows their molds are crap but figures it's cheaper to let customers and repair guys chase their tails for a while. Three in a month is wild though, almost impressive how consistent that failure is. Maybe they're using recycled yogurt containers for the plastic now or something. I half expect next time I open one up the ejector arm will be made of modeling clay. But hey, at least we get to play with hot air guns like fancy repair wizards instead of fighting with a frozen auger for an hour.

inUsed to spend 20 mins tying rope knots on every climb. Switched to a friction hitch last month and saving almost 10 mins per tree.
Gotta push back a little here. That 10 minutes you're saving is gonna come back to bite you when you're on a damp tree or dealing with a rope that's a bit worn. Friction hitches can slip more than you think especially under a dynamic load, and I've seen guys have to re-tie mid-climb because their hitch just gave out. Plus, taking those 20 minutes to tie proper knots builds muscle memory and gives you time to double check everything. You really trust a friction hitch on your TIP when you're 50 feet up and the rope gets wet?

inHad a guy at a tailgate in Austin show me why he never uses a thermometer
People get so hung up on gadgets and numbers they forget the basics. Same thing happens with mechanics who can't diagnose an engine without plugging in a computer.
