Spent 3 hours trying to sort the Scythe resource tokens by color and shape

That bit about "that kind of order is part of the fun" hit me hard because I used to be Dave all the way. I'd show up, throw pieces in a pile, and just want to start rolling dice as fast as possible. But last month I spent two hours sorting the metal coins from the deluxe TI expansion by mint year and now I get it, there's a weird calm that comes from making a mess into something neat and knowing exactly where everything is when the game starts.

Old timer in Denver told me to stop pre-filling screw holes and I thought he was nuts

That's close but I'd push back a little on the sanding thing. A single pass with 150 grit works fine for topping compound on new drywall, but if you're sanding down patch repairs or old joint compound that's got a different texture, that light pass can leave ridges. I've had to go back over spots where the 150 grit just glossed over the edges instead of knocking them flat. Sometimes you really do need a couple passes with different grits depending on what you're working with. The screw hole thing is spot on though, that trick saves real time on commercial jobs where speed matters.

Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop looping wire around the screw terminals

You ever notice how those looped wires feel tight when you first screw them down but then the copper starts working itself loose over time? The old timer was right because loops create a spring effect, especially with thinner wire like 22 or 24 gauge. Temperature swings in attics or garages make that problem way worse, each expansion and contraction slowly backs the screw off. Straight in with a good strip job puts the wire flat and even under the screw head, so it can't push itself out. Claire nailed it about the bare wire hanging out, that's a short circuit waiting to happen if you're not careful. I switched five years ago and my callback rate on alarm panels dropped to almost nothing, it's one of those fixes that looks too simple to matter but actually solves a ton of headaches.

Just realized my worst migraine week might have been a brain interface glitch

Have you checked the electrode placement on your headband? I had a similar thing happen when one of the contacts was sitting crooked against my skin. Turned out the gel patch had dried out in one spot and it was sending all kinds of weird signals. A quick clean and reseat fixed it right up. Also make sure your firmware is up to date, the last update fixed a lot of glitchy behavior for me.

Trick for keeping nails from slipping on wet hooves

I've been shoeing in the Pacific Northwest for 15 years and we get rain eight months out of the year, so I feel your pain. One thing that nobody talks about is the angle you set the nail on the hoof wall. When it's wet, the hoof gets slick but also a little softer, so I'll drive the nail in at a slightly steeper angle than I normally would. That extra bite into the wall keeps it from skating sideways when you start tapping. Took me a few seasons to figure that out, and it saves me from cussing under my breath every time. Rosin works fine but I'd rather adjust my technique than carry another block of stuff in my apron.
