Reading a report on e-waste and the number of phones thrown out each year is crazy

Battery swaps are probably 40% of what comes through my local shop now actually. Had a guy last week with a phone from 2019, just wanted the battery done and a new screen protector. Told me he finally broke down and upgraded his car though lol. That UN report is wild when you think about all those phones just sitting in junk drawers with perfectly fixable batteries.

That moment I stopped trusting the factory crimp settings

Oh man, "Pulled a wire to route it through a clamp and the terminal just slid right off the insulation." That's the kind of thing that makes you want to throw the whole toolbox across the hangar. I've had that same gut-punch moment with a batch of ring terminals that I swear were coated in butter or something. It's wild how you can trust the factory setting like it's gospel, then one batch of terminals shows up with thicker wall tubing and suddenly your crimp is just decorative. Now I'm paranoid too, I do a quick yank on every single crimp before I call it done. It's annoying but beats having to redo a whole panel because one terminal decided to ghost the wire.

That sourdough starter I babied for 6 weeks turned into moldy sludge

Oh man, you probably just got too attached. Honestly maybe the starter wanted to die and you forced it to live.

Got a harsh review on my Etsy shop that actually made me better

Not really defending checking 10 mugs but come on people act like ceramic mugs are some sacred artifact that never changes. They literally get dropped in dishwashers and microwaves every day, cracks form slowly, logos peel off. I found a mug I thought was fine had a hairline crack running through the bottom after I actually looked. Plus factory paint jobs from 3 years ago fade different than the same design today. If someone notices a pattern they should check, thats just being observant not paranoid.

The day I stopped trusting my chef's knife and started sharpening again

ruining my blades" hit home for me man. I was the same way with a pull through sharpener until a guy at a farmers market showed me what I was actually doing to the edge geometry. Now I use a 1000/6000 combo stone and I can get my Wusthof so sharp it glides through tomatoes like butter. One thing nobody tells you is to pay attention to the burr. You gotta feel it form on one side then flip and work it off. That's the secret to getting that screaming edge that lasts.
