inSpent $40 on a luggage scale before my trip to Lisbon and everyone called it a waste.
Totally agree, that feeling is the best. Just fixed my dryer last week with a five dollar multimeter instead of calling a repair guy. The little wins add up so fast and make you feel like a genius.

inJust realized my old way of quenching a leaf spring knife in Wichita was totally wrong
Hold up, wrong how? That Wichita water has a specific mineral content that can actually work great for some steels. If your blade didn't crack and holds an edge, what's the problem? Sometimes the old way works just fine because it was figured out through trial and error, not a textbook.

inMy friend from Texas said my book club pick was 'too political' for her
Honestly my cousin's book club fell apart over something similar. They picked a book about the prison system and half the group just stopped showing up. Tbh it's tricky because you want people to actually read the stuff. Maybe try a book that's tough but has really good characters you can all get into first, like a family story with some hard history in it. That way the talk can start with the people in the book, not just the big ideas.

inTIL you can use a potato to fix a bad forge weld
My buddy tried the potato trick after hearing about it from @ray_mitchell58's grandpa. He was working on a gate hinge and his borax can was empty. He was so sure it would just make a mess, but he gave it a shot. The weld sealed up tight, though he said it threw a lot of steam and sparks. Makes you wonder what other old tricks we've forgotten, doesn't it?

inI thought those 'AI slop' detector browser extensions were just hype
But what happens when that feeling is wrong and you get fooled? The tools just confirm your gut check, right?
