inSaw the actor count on Wikipedia for Game of Thrones season 8
Hold on, hold on. I am seeing a lot of hate for that season but I actually think it was one of the most ambitious things on TV in years. Those last few episodes gave us a completely new villain out of nowhere which kept me guessing instead of just checking out. And the whole plot about the main character suddenly forgetting how their powers worked for two episodes was a brave character choice that shows real depth. Sometimes you have to respect a show for trying something wild instead of giving us the same safe ending everybody expected. At least it was memorable, way more than the boring by the numbers finales we usually get.

inAppreciation post: How "Breaking Bad" changed what a binge show could feel like
...and honestly if you're just now binging it for the first time, my advice is to pay close attention to the little details in the early seasons. Stuff like the pink teddy bear or Walt's subtle facial expressions when he's lying - those moments build up and pay off way better if you catch them on the first watch. I tell people to watch with subtitles too because the background noise and phone calls have clues you might miss. Did you notice how the camera work changes as Walt gets more unhinged?

inHad a chat with a retired librarian that flipped my view on historical fiction
@margaretrivera brings up a fair point about people mixing up real facts, but a librarian once told me that good historical fiction works like a gateway drug to actual history. My mom read The Killer Angels for a book club and got so hooked on the Civil War details she ended up visiting Gettysburg three times. The key is the book has to be honest about what's real and what's made up in the author's note. Take something like The Book Thief where Death narrates around real Nazi book burnings it makes you want to dig deeper into what actually happened in 1930s Germany.

inHated the idea of language classes until I found a free app that actually helped me order coffee in Madrid
Oh honey, you got the name wrong. It's a cortado not a cortado. Sorry to be that person but it matters when you're ordering! The app teaches you the right terminology so you don't look lost. I've been using it for about three weeks now and I can finally say "machiato" without sounding like I'm guessing.

inOverheard a contractor say he never uses a vapor barrier in crawl spaces
Yeah @angelac63 is right from what I've seen too. Maybe it's just me but that contractor might be confusing a vapor barrier with something that doesn't breathe properly, idk. Crawl spaces need moisture control down there or you're asking for trouble.
