inCrack in the sand mold almost ruined my cast, glad I spotted it early!
My old foreman used to tap the mold with a screwdriver handle, listening for a dull thud that meant a hidden crack. Pat424 is right about the light, but sound catches what light misses sometimes.

inSerious question, are we letting software run our operations instead of our brains?
That line about spending more time updating the system than working hits hard. I see it the opposite way though. The software isn't running the show, it's just showing us how broken our process already was. A messy meeting gets turned into messy data in the tool. We set up a simple rule that if something takes less than five minutes to discuss in the hall, we don't put it in the system. The tool works for the clear, big stuff, and our brains handle the quick chat. It's about forcing the software to fit how we actually work, not the other way around.

inTroubleshooting those clunky old door contacts taught me patience.
Honestly, that bit about learning to listen for the click is huge. It trains you to notice the small stuff everywhere. Tbh I started catching similar little sounds in my car or house appliances because of that same focus. That old school fix makes you solve problems by paying real attention, not just looking for an app to tell you the answer. It's a kind of patience that changes how you interact with all kinds of basic tech. You just become more aware of how things actually work.
