inAfter my old filter failed on a week-long trek, I learned this
Nothing like treating your hundred dollar filter like it's a dollar store kettle. Saw a guy try this with a pump filter once and it melted the plastic housing into a modern art sculpture. Sure saves time, right up until you're boiling lake water in your hat because your gear is now a science experiment. We all learn the hard way, some of us just get better stories about our dumb mistakes.

inUpdate: Joining the DIY trend, my pallet tool rack improved my setup a lot.
Avoided pallet projects for a long time, thinking they were more trouble than worth. Then I helped a buddy build a tool rack from one, and we spent an afternoon prepping the wood. We pulled out old nails, sanded off the rough spots, and gave it a coat of sealant. That rack is still in his garage two years later, holding heavy wrenches and saws. It showed me that with a bit of extra work, pallet wood can be really useful.

inI finally got banned for defending a friend's post, but was it fair?
Ugh, I read this article last week about how moderation often punishes the visible reaction more than the original provocation. It feels like that's what happened to you, @claireg89. They see you jumping in to defend someone and just slap a ban, but ignore the nasty comment that started it all. The piece said it's a huge flaw in automated systems and overworked human mods.

inPro tip: Having my sister mix glazes with me flipped my whole approach
Glaze chemistry really needs that precise, silent focus in my book. Maybe it's just me, but bringing in extra people and treating it like a cake recipe sounds like a fast track to a bad batch. The whole point is repeatable results, and a "pinch of this or that" makes that impossible. I've seen too many good pieces ruined by a fun but unpredictable session.
