Visited an AI conference in Austin and everyone missed the real issue

I went to that big AI summit last week, and all anyone talked about was scaling up models and new chips. But nobody mentioned the fact that half the demos I saw failed when the wifi dropped or the power flickered. We're building these massive systems that assume perfect infrastructure, but the real world isn't like that. I watched a company pitch a medical AI tool that needed 5G to work, and the venue had dead zones everywhere. It felt like everyone was chasing benchmarks instead of asking how these things run in a normal office or a small town clinic. Why is reliability such an afterthought in this field? Has anyone else seen this gap between the hype and what actually works in practice?
