Dropped $40 on a 12 pack of frozen wings that turned to jerky in my air fryer
Bought one of those big bags of frozen party wings at Costco thinking I'd save cash for the game last Sunday. Followed the bag directions exactly, 400 degrees for 25 minutes, and they came out so dry my wife asked if I was making jerky. Did some digging after and turns out you're supposed to pat them totally dry and toss in a little baking powder first, the frozen ones just steam themselves. Wasted the whole bag plus a side of ranch I was excited about. Does anybody have a trick for frozen wings or am I just stuck doing the thaw overnight thing?
Honestly the baking powder trick is kinda overrated for frozen wings, it helps but the real problem is you're cooking them from frozen and getting all that water in the basket. Thawing overnight in the fridge is the move, and yeah it takes planning but the skin actually crisps up instead of steaming. Skip the Costco bag next time and grab fresh wings, they're not that much more per pound when you factor in not tossing half of them.
