My buddy swore 10 minutes was the magic number for chicken thighs and he was dead wrong
So my friend Dave kept telling me to cook air fryer chicken thighs at 400 for exactly 10 minutes, no flip. I tried it three times last month and every batch came out raw near the bone. Finally checked mine with a meat thermometer and they barely hit 150 after 10 minutes. Now I do 18 minutes at 380 with a flip halfway through and they hit 165 every time. Has anyone else run into bad advice from people who just guess the time?

I mean, it's chicken thighs. If they're slightly under you're not gonna die or anything, just cook them longer next time. No need to treat it like a science experiment.

Six and a half minutes on medium heat in a cast iron is what I do and they come out fine every time, so I gotta ask - what temp are you running your pan at, @daniel552? Because if you're blasting it on high and just searing the outside, that's where the raw middle problem comes from. I've seen guys on crews burn the hell out of the skin and still have pink near the bone.
