A customer in Tulsa made me redo a keypad mount 3 times until it was perfect, and now I get it
Had a job in Tulsa about 2 months ago where this older guy watched me mount the keypad by his garage door. After my first try he asked me to take it off and do it again because the bubble level showed it was off by maybe a quarter inch. I redid it twice more before he nodded and handed me a cold water. He then showed me his own workbench where every tool was hung with a laser line marked on the wall. Now I keep a small torpedo level in my pouch and check every keypad twice before I drill. How do you all handle customers who want to watch every step?
When a guy wants to watch I just hand him the level and tell him to call it out. Takes the pressure off me and he feels like part of the job. Had one lady in Broken Arrow who followed me around with her own tape measure, so I started asking her to hold the other end of the fish tape. By the time I was done she was handing me screws. Folks like that usually just want to know you care as much as they do. Give them a small job and they calm right down.
