I bought a $300 signal booster kit for a tough install and it was a total bust

Had a client in a brick building with terrible wireless sensor range, so I ordered a fancy repeater kit thinking it would solve everything. After two full days of messing with placement and settings, the signal was still dropping and I had to eat the cost and run new wire anyway. Has anyone found a reliable wireless solution for thick masonry, or is it always better to just plan for a wired run from the start?

Been there. Thick brick walls are basically a dead zone for most wireless gear. I've had way better luck with powerline adapters that use the building's electrical wiring to carry the signal. Still not perfect, but it beats running new wire through old masonry. Honestly, for a permanent fix in a building like that, cable is the only thing I'd trust.

Remember trying to get wifi to my buddy's backyard shed, which was basically a brick bunker. We went through three different extenders that all promised to fix the problem, and each one was worse than the last. Ended up just burying a cable in a garden hose, which felt like giving up but actually worked on the first try. Sometimes the old way is the only way that doesn't drive you crazy.
