Question about soldering vs crimping on 22 gauge zone wiring
I used to crimp every zone wire splice on panel jobs and got callbacks about once a month for a bad connection. Last week I switched to soldering and heat shrink on a 16 zone house in Tulsa and not one issue so far. The crimp connectors I was using were the insulated blue ones and half of them looked crushed but still loose when I tugged on the wire. Do you guys solder all your splices or just use better crimp tools? Trying to figure out if it is worth the extra 10 minutes per panel.
