Showerthought: spent 6 hours chasing a ground fault that turned out to be a staple touching a joist
Last Tuesday I was wiring a panel swap in a house off Riverside Dr and the zone 3 loop kept tripping the second I powered it up. I spent 6 hours pulling the keypad, swapping the EOL resistor twice, and even running a whole new wire run under the carpet before I gave up for the night. Came back the next morning, shoved my toner into the crawl space, and there it was: one staple from the original install gone crooked and nicked the jacket right against a joist. 30 seconds with a screwdriver and some tape and the whole thing passed. How do you guys test old wire runs before assuming the panel is the problem?
