The $70 wireless zone expander that saved my rear end on a retrofit

Bought a wireless zone expander for $70 after drilling through a solid brick wall only to find the customer's office layout made running wire impossible, and it linked the new sensors to the panel in under an hour, has anyone else used these on tough retrofits or did I just get lucky?

Used one last spring on a church retrofit where the walls were plaster over metal lath. Same deal, no way to pull wire without destroying the place. That little box paired up clean and the sensors have been rock solid ever since. Only thing I'd say is make sure you check the battery life on the expander itself, some of the cheaper ones eat power faster than you'd expect. Also helps to mount it high and clear of metal studs, that can block the signal something fierce.
