My neighbor up in Fairbanks made me rethink my whole approach to winter tires

Old guy named Hank told me to ditch my studded tires for Blizzaks after I complained about sliding on ice. He said he's run the same set for 6 winters without issues and I called him crazy. Now I'm wondering if I wasted money on studs for nothing - anyone else made the switch?
