The retired plumber on Menaul showed me one thing about my water heater and I still think about it
Back in 2019 I was about to drop $1,400 on a new water heater when my neighbor Sal, who did plumbing for 35 years, came over and just pointed at the pressure relief valve pipe. He said "that thing's supposed to run downhill to the drain, not sit there pointing at your drywall." He fixed it with a $12 pipe in about 20 minutes and the heater ran fine for another 4 years. Now I always check that pipe before calling anyone, anyone else have a neighbor like that who saved them from a dumb mistake?
