Beware the old fansub group hiding malware in their releases

I downloaded a rare 90s OVA from 'AnimeRelics' last week and my antivirus caught a keylogger embedded in the video file. Has anyone else here run into fake fansub groups slipping dangerous stuff into their encodes?

Old fansub groups were the worst about this stuff. Back in the early 2000s I downloaded a whole series from a group called 'DigitalDreams' and it bricked my PC. Got a weird popup saying my files were encrypted and they wanted money. Lost everything. Now I only download from the big private trackers with solid rep. Even then I run everything through a sandbox first. The keylogger thing is scary though, never seen it hidden in a video file before. That's next level sneaky.

Wait, they actually managed to hide a keylogger inside a video file? That's wild, I didn't even know that was possible.
