Botched a scene translation during a fan sub group watch party at 1am last Saturday
I was hosting a small watch party for a niche mecha series from the 90s, trying to sync up our fan subs with a raw BD rip. About 20 minutes in, dialog started lagging behind the mouth flaps by a full 2 seconds. People were yelling in the chat, one guy posted the exact timestamp. I had to pause everything, manually adjust the subtitle delay in the player settings, and re-sync mid-episode. Turned out the raw file had a slight frame rate difference nobody caught. We got through the rest without issue, but I felt like an idiot. Anyone else ever have a subtitle sync disaster ruin a group watch?

Manual adjustment mid-episode"? That sounds stressful. Who even catches frame rate differences at 1am?

The 3am crowd is a different breed entirely. I once watched a guy manually adjust a TV's refresh rate during a big storm because the power flickering made the screen stutter. @sarah198, if you're tweaking frame rates at that hour, are you even watching the show or just monitoring the tech specs? Feels like a sysadmin hobby more than a viewing experience.
