I used to brush off the whole 'sub vs dub' debate as just gatekeeping...
Took me watching the final arc of Attack on Titan in subbed format because the dub wasn't out yet to realize the Japanese voice actors put way more emotion into their performances. The scene where Eren screams at the ocean just hit different. Has anyone else had a moment where the alternative version completely sold you on a different experience?

Wait, did you watch the dub of Ghost Stories? That's the one that totally flipped my view on sub vs dub. The English version is literally a comedy show with completely different dialogue, it's wild how much the voice direction changes everything.

Wait, did you actually think the original Ghost Stories was a serious horror show? Because I did, and then I watched the dub and felt like I got pranked. It's basically a group of voice actors doing a roast of the whole anime while the characters are just standing there looking confused. I love how they just gave up and decided to make every scene 10 times more ridiculous than it needed to be. The part where the cat starts talking about taxes still cracks me up no matter how many times I see it. How do you even go back to the original after something like that?

Figured I'd been missing out on something real when the sub made me tear up over a cartoon sandwich.
