Malaysia's censor board cut 47 seconds from the first Demon Slayer movie and I only found out last Tuesday
So I was rewatching Demon Slayer: Mugen Train with my little cousin at my place in Columbus and he kept asking why a scene felt weird, like two shots did not connect. I pulled up the wiki page on my phone during the credits and it turns out the Malaysian release had 47 seconds removed by their censor board, mostly blood spray and one shot of Rengoku's eye. I sat there kind of stunned because I had streamed that version first back in 2021 without knowing, and the whole Tanjiro dream sequence hit me different after I saw what was missing. It made me wonder how many anime I have watched where the version I got was quietly trimmed, like the TV broadcast of Attack on Titan season 3 had that recap episode squeezed in and I did not notice for months. I am not saying every cut ruins a show, but when a fight scene loses its impact because of a few frames, that is a real change to how the story lands. My cousin ended up watching the uncut one after and said the Rengoku moment felt twice as heavy, which tracks. Has anyone else gone back and found out the version you loved was actually an edited one, and did it change how you felt about it?
