Had to choose between a cheap multimeter and a good one on a big job
I was working on a tricky fridge in a big apartment building downtown, and my old multimeter died right in the middle of testing the main board. I had a choice: run to the closest hardware store and grab their $25 special, or drive 40 minutes across town to the real supply house and get a Fluke for over $200. I was already behind schedule, so I went with the cheap one. Big mistake. The readings were all over the place, I spent an extra two hours chasing a problem that wasn't there, and I still had to go get the good meter the next day to finish the job. I lost money on that call for sure. Has anyone else had a tool fail you at the worst time and what did you do?

Oof, that's the universe telling you not to cheap out on tools.

Cheap tools are a lesson you only need to learn once!
