Saw a repair shop in Phoenix charge $65 just to say 'it's the control board' and nothing else
I was killing time at a parts counter in Phoenix last Tuesday and overheard a guy at the next window get quoted 65 bucks for a diagnostic that took the tech maybe 4 minutes. The customer asked what was wrong and the guy just said 'control board, that's the fee' and slid a slip across the counter with no part number, no model info, nothing. Is that normal where you work, or do you itemize what you actually tested before you hand over a number?
Wait, $65 to say "control board" and nothing else? That's like me charging people to tell them their check engine light is on. I'd guess half those "diagnostics" are just the tech squinting at it and guessing.
