Update: That curator who ripped apart my dig notes
I had a senior curator at the Field Museum tell me my stratigraphy documentation was 'painfully vague' after a 3 week dig in Illinois. She said I needed to include every single soil color change and root disturbance, not just the big layers. It felt harsh at first but she was right, I went back and redid my entire recording system to be more detailed. Has anyone else had their field methods totally called out by a more experienced archaeologist?

Did you end up going full Munsell on every single grain of dirt after that? (I still have flashbacks to my first field school where my supervisor made me redo a whole profile because I labeled a color as "brown" instead of "10YR 4/3" lol)

And then the supervising prof walked by and was like "actually that's more 10YR 4/2" and just left me standing there with my color book like a fool lol. I still don't trust my own eyes when it comes to dirt.
