Last week I asked a total stranger to settle a debate and it worked

My buddy and I were arguing about whether a 2005 Honda Civic could hit 40 mpg on the highway if you hypermiled it. We stood in a gas station parking lot for like 10 minutes going back and forth. Finally I walked up to this older guy filling up his own Civic and just asked him straight out. He laughed and said he gets 41.5 on his commute to Akron every day. Has anyone else ever gotten a better answer from a random person than from any forum or friend?
