Watched a judge in Akron toss a case over a 3 day late filing and I always double check dates now
Saw it happen at the Summit County courthouse about 5 years back. The clerk said the motion was stamped 3 days past the deadline and the judge didn't even blink. I used to just eyeball my calendar, but now I keep a paper backup with every date written down twice. Does anyone else have a specific thing they do to avoid getting burned by a deadline?
Isnt it funny how the whole world runs on people quietly doing their homework while everyone else just wings it? Deadlines, forms, tickets, you name it, and the person who reads the fine print wins while the rest of us are standing there shocked. I see it everywhere now. At the DMV, at the bank, even at my kids school with permission slips. The system does not care that you were busy or that your printer broke. It just cares about the date. So I do the same thing you do, paper and phone both, and I check them against each other the night before anything is due. Sounds paranoid until the one time it saves you, then it feels like the smartest habit you ever built.
