Thought the ISS streak photos were fake until I caught one over my driveway in Reno
I always figured those long white lines across star photos were just people dragging the shutter or editing it in. Last Tuesday I set my phone on the hood of my car around 9pm with a 15 second exposure and got a clean streak going right past Orion. Turns out the ISS pass was at 9:07 and it matched NASA's tracker exactly. Has anyone else gotten a good shot of it, and do I need a tripod or is stacking shots a better way to go?
Man, I had almost the same thing happen last month from my backyard and couldn't believe how clear it came out. A tripod makes a big difference for a single long shot like that, but stacking a bunch of shorter ones works even better if you want less blur and noise. Give the stacking a try next pass and see which one you like more.
