Why does nobody talk about how light pollution kills the Milky Way view at Big Bend?
I camped out near the Chisos Basin last month and the sky was still washed out orange from Terlingua 20 miles away, made me wonder if any dark sky spots in Texas are actually safe from it.

Did you ever accidentally bring the wrong tent stakes and just lay there staring at the Milky Way, wondering if you're secretly a raccoon who forgot how to adult? Because I did that last trip and honestly, the stars were so bright I almost forgot I was sleeping like a bat clinging to a rock. It's wild how much better the sky looks when you're not fighting some distant Walmart parking lot's glow.
