Looking back at how my noise-cancelling headphones failing at the grocery store last Tuesday made me realize how much I've adapted.
The battery died right in the middle of a crowded aisle, and I had to finish my shopping with the full sensory overload hitting me, which made me think about how much I used to just avoid those places entirely before I had that tool.

That moment when a tool fails really shows how much we build our routines around little fixes. It's like when a phone GPS dies and you realize you have no idea how to get home without it, or a smart speaker goes down and the house feels weirdly quiet. We adapt to these things so fast that we forget they're even there until they stop working. Makes you wonder what other crutches we're leaning on without noticing.

My car key fob died last week and I just stood there like an idiot.

Does anyone else feel like a complete caveman when the simplest tech stops working? I had the same thing with my key fob, @kevin_schmidt97, and just stood there jamming the unlock button like it would magically start working if I tried hard enough. It's wild how fast we forget we used to survive just fine with a physical key and a paper map.
