My partner pointed out my 'info dump' was overwhelming during a movie
They said 'I just want to watch the film, not hear the whole production history' when I started explaining the director's filmography. Now I wait until after the credits to ask if they want to hear any background details. Anyone have a good signal for when someone is actually interested in a deep dive?

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I was explaining the entire lore of a video game to my friend... he just stared at the screen and finally said "dude, I'm just trying to shoot the aliens." I learned to just watch for if they ask a follow-up question now.
