Was sure I hated group therapy, then one session flipped it
I spent 2 years dodging every support group invite because I thought group settings would be a sensory and social disaster for my autism, but my therapist finally convinced me to try one last Tuesday at the community center. What got me was how everyone passed around a talking stick and nobody looked at each other while speaking, so I could stim and look at the floor the whole time without feeling judged. Has anyone else found that specific group structures, like turn-taking rules or no-eye-contact norms, make a huge difference for them?
