Brake bleed trick with a cheap aquarium tube saved my Saturday

My 2005 Civic's pedal went soft after a caliper swap, so I grabbed a 6-foot aquarium tube and a water bottle for a DIY bleeder. The trick was submerging the tube end in fluid so no air sneaks back in, worked better than the $40 kit I borrowed before. Anyone else use random household stuff for brake work, or am I the only one cheap enough to try it?

Did the same thing on my old Accord with a cheap vinyl tube from the hardware store, worked SO much better than my fancy bleeder kit. The trick is making sure the tube fits tight on the nipple and the bottle stays below the caliper, that alone stops most of the air bubbles. It's honestly the best $3 I've spent on brake work, and I'll never go back to the expensive stuff.
