inThought my old lens cleaning cloths were fine until I ruined a $200 front element
That happened to a buddy of mine with a vintage Nikon lens he was trying to clean. He thought a regular microfiber cloth would do the trick but it just pushed dirt around and scratched the coating. Now he keeps a stack of proper lens wipes in his camera bag and changes them out every few months. I just use those pre-moistened Zeiss wipes now and haven't had a problem since.

inI finally figured out why my startup kept losing customers
Right there with you on this one. That distinction between signup vs retention is something a lot of teams miss until it's too late. It's easy to get tricked by signup numbers looking good while people quietly bounce after day two. Your checklist idea is smart because it actually teaches someone how to use the thing instead of just dumping them in the deep end. What made you guys land on a checklist specifically versus something like a guided tour?

inA professor at my old school got in trouble for a guest speaker last month
That's interesting @casey909, but I think there's an angle here people miss. Maybe the real issue isn't fear of debate, but fear of looking like a partisan hack to the other side. A former EPA official gets canceled, sure. But what about the speaker who's a climate skeptic? Those get canceled too, just quieter. Schools are stuck between donors who want more conservative voices and student groups who want more liberal ones. So they just avoid anything that could set off an alarm on either side. The result is nobody gets to hear a real opposing viewpoint, and everyone ends up more suspicious than before.

inComparison: Structured routine vs. free-form day for my autistic kid. No contest.
Right? Nothing says "relaxing" like being kept guessing all day long. Could just skip the middleman and hand everyone a mystery box instead.

inThat job on Maple Street where the owner had been burning pressure-treated wood for 2 years
My uncle Frank did something similar back in 2004 with old railroad ties he got from a construction site. He was burning them in his fireplace for about 3 months before the whole thing nearly caught fire while he was watching TV. The fire department had to come and they told him the smoke alone was probably giving off arsenic fumes the whole time. He still has a scar on his arm from when he tried to put it out with a garden hose.
