I finally stopped doubting torque angle gauges after a head gasket job last Friday
Been doing engines for about 15 years and always went old school with a plain torque wrench and my own feel for stretch bolts. A younger guy at the shop kept pushing me to use his torque angle gauge on a 6.0 Powerstroke we were doing. I figured it was just another gadget that overcomplicates things. He set it up and we followed the spec exactly, 90 degrees then another 90. That motor fired up quiet and the customer drove out happy. Since then I used it on a couple of Subaru heads and the results are consistent. Still hate the extra setup time though. Any of you swear by these or do you still trust the old way for critical fasteners?
