My favorite snap-on ratchet from the 90s finally gave out yesterday
I was pulling the oil pan on a 2003 F-150 at my shop in Akron last week when the pawl just snapped clean off. That ratchet had been with me since my first year at Lincoln Tech back in '97. I remember paying $180 for it out of my first real paycheck, which felt like a fortune back then. The new one I bought yesterday is alright I guess, but the handle feels different and the head is bulkier. Anyone else feel like the new tools just don't have the same weight or feel as the old stuff?

Yeah that rebuild kit thing is a lifesaver, I did it on my old 1/2 inch.

Did you try swapping the rebuild kit into the old handle? I did that with my old 3/8 drive from the 90s and it saved me, the new guts fit fine and it still feels right in my hand.
