That one tip from an old timer about impact gun oil saved me $300 yesterday

Old guy at the parts counter told me to actually oil my impact gun every morning before first use. I always ignored it. Yesterday my air impact seized up halfway through pulling lug nuts on a F-250. Had to hand-break all 32 nuts with a breaker bar in the rain. Took me an extra 2 hours. New gun is $300 minimum. Now I oil it religiously. Anyone else learn a simple maintenance habit the hard way?

Sounds like a pain but $300 seems steep for a basic air impact.
