TIL I've replaced 200+ starters, hit that number today

I keep a tally in my toolbox, just a little notebook. Today I replaced my 200th starter motor since I started doing this in 2015. Most of them are for the same three car models, which probably says something about those engines or the customers who buy them. The weird part is number 200 went in a 2012 Chevy Sonic with 90k miles, and it started on the first crank. Anyone else keep count of a specific part they swap out more than anything else?

That 200 mark is something else, man. I don't keep a physical tally, but I know for a fact I've done over 150 alternators since 2019, mostly on old Ford Focuses. There's a weird satisfaction in seeing that number grow, even when it means the same crappy part keeps failing. Congrats on hitting the milestone, and honestly, that Sonic firing right up on the first try is a small miracle worth celebrating lol. Here's to hoping the next 200 go in smoother than the last batch.
