I finally hit 10,000 posts on Truth Social and it feels weird

Checked my account yesterday and saw I've made exactly 10,003 posts supporting Trump since 2022. That's a lot of time typing on my phone at work. It surprised me because I never thought I'd be that active online about politics. Anyone else ever add up how much they've posted and feel kind of strange about it?

Signed up for a monthly box that promised hidden literary gems. First one came with a romance novel I'd never read plus a candle that smelled like cheap soap. Second box had a self-published thriller with typos on page 3. I canceled after two months and the customer service ghosted me. Anyone else get burned by one of these fancy book subscription scams?

Learned the hard way that 'free consultation' doesn't mean free advice

I called a lawyer about a tenant dispute last month and they said the first 15 minutes were free. So I asked about my lease wording and they gave me some quick thoughts, but then the bill came for $350. Turns out the 'free consultation' was just them saying hello, not actually answering questions about my specific situation. The invoice said they billed for legal analysis after the first 5 minutes. I guess I should have asked upfront what counts as the free part. Has anyone else gotten burned by that kind of fine print with a lawyer's office?

Three years of painting trim before I realized I was supposed to backbrush

Caught myself just rolling on that Malibu white in my brother's kitchen last month and the texture looked like orange peel, then my buddy laughed and said 'you know you gotta brush it out, right' and now I'm wondering what else I've been missing.

Swapped from team play to free-for-all in Catan and it completely changed the vibe

My group always played teams (2v2v2) in Catan because we thought it was more strategic, but last week I made us try a 6-player free-for-all and EVERYONE was trading and backstabbing within 5 minutes. The tension was way higher and no one could hide behind a partner. Has anyone else found that free-for-all brings out a totally different game in standard board games?

Rant: Everyone says shop around for lawyers but I found the opposite works better

Honestly, I spent 3 weeks calling 12 different attorneys in my city about a contract dispute. Every single one quoted me between $350 and $500 an hour. Then I found a lawyer my buddy used 2 years ago for a similar thing, didn't even shop around, just hired him. He charged $275 an hour and got the whole thing settled in 2 months. I found this stat on a local bar association survey that said repeat clients actually pay 22% less than first-time shoppers. So all that advice about getting three quotes? I think it backfires because lawyers know they have to compete on price for new clients. Am I wrong here or has anyone else seen better rates by sticking with one attorney long term?

Warning: That 'free' pallet wood from the grocery store almost cost me big time

I grabbed a bunch of pallets from behind a Food Lion near me last week, thinking I'd save $60 on lumber for a raised garden bed. Then I noticed one had a tiny oil stain and started reading up on MB and HT codes some pallets have chemical treatments you can't just sand off. Has anyone else dealt with this or am I being too paranoid?

Finally made it to a coffee shop meetup after 3 years of trying

Last Saturday I went to a local autism support group meetup at BrewGrounds downtown. I've been thinking about going for 3 years but always bailed last minute because of the noise or trying to figure out parking. I set a timer for 45 minutes and told myself I could leave after that no questions asked. I ended up staying for 2 hours and talked to 2 people about stimming toys and sensory-friendly headphones. It was draining but not as bad as I built it up in my head. Has anyone else found that setting a hard time limit helps you push through the initial anxiety?

Had a retired mason tell me I'm laying brick too fast

I was working a job in Oakville last Tuesday on a new retaining wall, and this older guy walks over from the house next door. He watched me for like 10 minutes and said 'you're rushing your joints, they'll crack in two winters.' I always thought speed was the key to making money, but he showed me his work from the 80s and it was still perfect. Has anyone else had a seasoned guy slow them down and it actually helped your end result?

Worst week of bullet journaling I've ever had

Last Tuesday I spilled coffee all over my Leuchtturm1917 and lost 3 weeks of habit tracking and daily logs. Tried to recreate it from memory and my whole September spread is a mess of illegible notes and skipped days. Has anyone else had a total journal disaster that made them just start fresh in a new notebook?
