5 years of crimping D-Subs wrong and nobody caught it

Found out last Tuesday I’d been using the wrong die on my crimper for DB9 pins this whole time. Only figured it out when a senior tech pulled a pin out by hand during a continuity test lol. Anyone else ever have a basic habit go unnoticed forever?

baker.ben is right about muscle memory just taking over, that's basically how I got through five years without a second thought. It's wild how your hands can be doing something wrong for that long and your brain just never flags it because the result still kind of works. Definitely makes you wonder what other bad habits are hiding in plain sight, waiting for a senior tech to casually break.

Man, that stings. Five years is a long time to find out something like that, especially with something as basic as a D-Sub pin. I feel for you, man. It happens to the best of us, though - sometimes the muscle memory just takes over and nobody questions it. Good thing it was just a pull-out test and not a full-on field failure, but still, that's a rough way to learn.
