Just realized my quick fix for a static discharge issue made things way worse
I was working on a G1000 system in a Cessna 172 last week and kept getting random resets. I figured it was static from the dry air, so I sprayed the whole panel with anti-static cleaner. The resets stopped for about an hour, then the whole PFD went dark. Turns out the cleaner left a film that messed with the internal ribbon cable connections on the display unit. I had to pull the unit, clean every pin with isopropyl, and reseat it. Has anyone else had a 'fix' backfire because of a chemical you used?

Ever try that cleaner on a Garmin G5?

Seriously, I saw a thread where a guy wrecked his G5's anti-glare coating with some generic cleaner. The manual flat out says to use water and a microfiber cloth. Anything with alcohol or ammonia can haze the screen permanently. It's not worth the risk for a piece of gear that expensive. Just stick with what Garmin tells you to do.

Saw a forum post where someone ruined theirs with lens wipes.
