Walked into a bakery in Louisville and found a sourdough starter petting zoo
Stopped by this little shop on Bardstown Road last weekend, they had a jar of starter that was like 14 years old and named Bertha. The owner let me feed it and honestly I got more attached in 5 minutes than I have to some of my houseplants. Then I accidentally knocked over a bag of flour and it went everywhere, the whole counter looked like a snowstorm. I offered to pay for it and the lady just laughed and said, 'sweetheart, that's nothing, my cat did worse last Tuesday.' Has anyone else let a bakery talk them into taking home a cup of someone else's ancient starter?
