Just realized my old man was right about pre-drilling screw holes

My friend Mike had this same thing happen with his dad's advice about sharpening lawn mower blades. He spent years just slamming them onto rocks and stuff when they got dull, and his mower would leave this ragged cut on the grass. His dad kept telling him to file them down properly but Mike thought it was just old man nonsense. Then one day his neighbor came over and showed him how to actually sharpen them right, and Mike said the difference was night and day. He called his dad that same night to finally admit he was right about the whole thing.

Just found out that 90% of the peat moss sold in garden centers comes from bogs that take 1,000 years to form

Yeah exactly, I made the switch last season and all my plants are now THRIVING on my guilt free mistakes and total garden chaos. My first batch of coir ended up looking like a weird science experiment because I forgot to wet it properly, just a dry brick sitting in a pot like a FAILURE. But hey, at least my breakdown over the peat bog situation is now replaced by my breakdown over why my seedlings are all leggy.

Just realized I was overcomplicating my digital art portfolio after watching my nephew scroll through Instagram

Right there with you... my life is one big cautionary tale at this point.

Went back and forth on buying a used MPC One for 6 months finally pulled the trigger

6 months? man I would've given up after like two weeks. that's some serious persistence right there. but yeah once you get past that learning curve it just clicks and becomes second nature.

My uncle swore by using a 6-foot level for every post, I tried it on a job in Phoenix.

And I'm over here still using a level to check every single post twice like some kind of cowboy builder - @the_mary probably thinks I'm a lost cause at this point. The string line trick completely changed my deck game once I actually tried it. Maybe next time I'll even remember to pull the string tight enough.
