TIL you can rescue overproofed dough with a splash of cold water and a fold
I let my brioche go way too long on the counter last Saturday while I got sidetracked laying flooring for a buddy. Quick cold water fold and it baked up fluffy instead of flat, anyone else got a weird fix for a baking fail?

Ugh, I feel this so hard. Overproofed dough is the worst, it feels like you just wasted all that time and butter. I've never tried the cold water trick but I'm definitely gonna remember that for next time. My go to for a messed up loaf is just turning it into a bread pudding or french toast casserole, you can salvage pretty much any overproofed brioche that way. Glad yours turned out fluffy though, that's a win in my book.

Overproofed dough makes killer croutons too, just cube and toast with garlic.
